Darjeeling Eccentric Rod Dimension

Hi Engineers,

 

Regretfully another misprint has been discovered, in ME 4398 pages 252 and 253 concerning the length, between centres, of the eccentric rods.

 

On the drawing on page 252 it is quoted as being 7 13/32″ and in the text on page 253 it is given as 7 3/32″

 

I can confirm that the correct dimension is 7 13/32″

Hi Donald, maybe an errata page could be printed at the end of the series for future constructors.

It is for this very reason that I have opted to purchase a set of drawings. Yes, they are expensive, but to maintain your sanity and keep your blood pressure down I think it is cheap. I can assure you, that having made a loco from magazine published drawings it will not take you long to realise that it is a worthwhile expenditure. It will not only save you money in scrapped components, but a more precious commodity time. No, I do not have any connection with the drawing supplier other than as a customer.

Nick whilst I go along with your ‘errata’ page, the end of the series will be for a few constructors, a bit to late.I do not include myself in that, but from reading these posts quite a few are keeping up with the series. It is a good job that Ray is keeping an eye on things.

thanks donald i’ll ammend the drawing accordingly

my aim is to list all the errors in the magazine and send them to the editor and publish them on this site

there are quite a number i do not know how the accur but i presume it is in the redrawing for publication

i am nearly keeping up with the published design so far mabe catch up when the weather improves
