After receiving a well earned telling off Ketan Swali at ARC I decided to bite the bullet and buy a set of collets and a milling head. Thanks to Peter Shaw for the tips he passed on.

The point of this thread is that after I had sent for the said milling kit I noticed as I backed through the pages on the net a site which publishes reviews on line.

I read the review on Sitebox the company I had given my money to. It was another LORDY LORDY (Much cursing of all manner of heathen gods also) moment as I read how the first couple of customers in the list of reviews were kind of tee'ed off for the bad service they had had. Reviews got better a little later as I read on.

Now this morning I had received a text on my phone from Sitebox about the kit in which it stated it would be with me at 11:45 to 12:45, which was two days after I ordered. One if you count the day I ordered ass gone since it wass late afternoon. This is the first time I have had this sort of warning. Indeed most articles bought on the net warn anything up to 3 to 5 days in which to expect the goods to arrive. Sods law reigns when you pop to the local shop and on returning …. a little note telling you where you can pick up you're parcel!?*!**

Just after the alloted time my stuff arrived, WHOOPY. My thoughts of rigged reviews and management collusion vanished, I almost felt ashamed.

I'm not sure what or why these people had the problems they did but for me the service was second to none and long may Sitebox keep it up.

PS anyone had dealings with Sitebox or are they new to the market?

      Jesse.

No dealings with them but if its the Clarke collet holder and collets you ordered then you have limited yourself to the obscure far eastern collets that the holder takes, a better (and cheaper) buy would have been an ER collet chuck.

Edit , just looked at their address, its just a new name for an existing tool and fixings supplier, used to use them years ago.

ER describes a standard type of Collet that is available all over the world so you would be able to ad morte collets to fit the same holder if you needed to in the future. They come in several size ranges such as ER 16, ER25, ER 32, etc and each of theose ranges has a set of different size capacities in 1mm steps. Size range shown here

Another option which was suggested in the other thread is MT collets also known as finger collets as these do not protrude from teh end of teh spindle like a drill chuck or collet holder you you would have gained about 75mm of height under the cutting tool and a bit more rigidity. MT collets here

Jason thank you for the lead. I'll av a butchers and see how thing go. With drills and mills for instance I buy only as and when I need a particular size. I find it saves spending a fortune on stuff I might never use.
