Here’s my ‘curious object of the day’

My interest in these was renewed when I saw the excellent photos [and somewhat less impressive text] in a ‘Country Living’ article featured in this morning’s News.

I enjoyed this quote from your link:
Curling is a game, developed by the Scotch,

A little off-topic was an article a few weeks ago about design and manufacture of bowling balls where the centres of such balls are available in different off-centre balances to take advantage of various types of waxed lane surfaces to allow the balls to curve during their run.

            Michael,

A couple of years ago we found two strange objects in a box of tools that turned out to be a pair of solid nickel silver and ebony antique handles for curling stones. Having looked them up I find that we started them at £12 on eBay. We were delighted when they made over £100 and went to a specialist restorer in Scotland!

I very much doubt we will ever see another pair!

            Cheers, Martin

Wasn't there something about sending ebony to foreign countries?!
