I just wanted to suggest that anyone who uses Cura upgrades to this latest version.

        Some notable features are:

It seems to use a much more sensible algorithm for fill, making it faster.

Bridging of large gaps is much more reliable, a faulty STL that included an unsupported surface 60mm in diameter printed well, although the bottom layer was not perfect due to sag.

Not sure what it does, but the slight elephant's foot effect at the base of every print seems to have been overcome or compensated for.

'Ironing' of upper surfaces and 'fuzzy skin' give an improved appearance to parts.

Lots more that's new, but these are things that have improved my parts.

Well that was a disaster! The latest version of Cura won't run on my old computer with XP because it's 32 bit. Neither will it run on my new computer with W7 – never starts properly, just complains that an obscure hard disk is missing. Totally useless. On another matter I can't get basic information on my printer from the Ultimaker site. Sadly it seems they've been so seduced by fancy graphics and twiddly stuff that the pages never load properly unless, presumably, one is uaing the latest wizzo computer and OS.

So I've reverted to my old (V15) version of Cura.

I did upgrade recently but changed back to 3.3.1. There is a problem where prints dont start. A message appears on the LCD to "Click to Continue" so you need to press the LCD button. This happens perhaps twice before the print will start. I'm not sure if it also pops up during prints.

            regards

            Steve

@Steve – I always print using a CF card to avoid any issues (like hibernating the computer mid-print).

The alternative at the time was W8, which is a complete POS. I bought a pukka copy of W7 before it was discontinued, and before I bought the computer.

I use W10 at work; sort of ok, but rather gets in the way of doing useful things. And the default PDF viewer is worse than a POS!

Even though W7 is a bit outdated I'd expect Cura to run on it, or at least not come up with an incomprehensible error box that you can't get rid of, whichever option you click.

…. wait till the other shoe drops.

Me too. That said, I'm still using 15.04.6 which always works for me (Windows 7 and 8.1). I tried 3.0.4 , spent several hours with a notable lack of success and reverted.
