I have a number of flat head mild steel screws to finish. I thought it would speed things up a bit if I mounted them in the wheel head unit to grind on my Jones & Shipman T&C grinder. The setup works fine but I cannot get a decent finish with the grinding wheels I have.

Not very experienced with grinding so have been reading the books (always dangerous!) and it looks like I need A320 grade, all mine seem to be 60, Anyone have any ideas where to get a suitable cup wheel 31.75 bore, or will a diamond do the job without breaking the bank?

      Thanks  Peter

Grinding steel, or anything containing iron, will destroy a diamond
wheel, unless you take it paralytically slowly.

The surface finish of mild steel after grinding is usually c-rap unless you use a coolant in copious amounts and naff all cut on the wheel.

              Regards  Ian.
