Just come back from the World Ploughing Championships at Crockey Hill, just south of York on the A19.
I'd gone to see the steam ploughing demonstration, expecting about five engines to be there.
Erm… no. There were 31 listed in the most excellent programme; I didn't actually do a spoke count, but I think they were all there! Couple of beautiful small ones too. The Steam Plough Club's tent had an amazing display of the work being done to rebuild an ancient Fowler single.
Last day tomorrow – 11th September – it's your last chance to see this many ploughing engines doing their stuff in one place for quite a while.
Designer Outlet's a couple of miles away – so the female part of the outing could always go there…
