Thought I would share – some big savings on some of these lathes on Amazon UK.

Do your own due diligence – I don’t have one of these and don’t plan on getting one, so this isn’t a recommendation.

My personal opinion is that IF I was going to take a punt on a cheap lathe that wasn’t backed by one of the well regarded UK resellers such as Warco / Amadeal in order to get a cheap deal, I would probably look here. Amazon have an excellent policy on returns in case you have problems.

Amadeals regular price is £15 more, so Amazon’s deal is not a big saving, and a more recognisable machine tool dealer as well.

Have not looked, since would not expect any technical back up, or advice, from Amazon, which is what I would expect from reputable UK importers such as Warco, Arc Euro, Amadeal, Chester, Axminster etc.

An extra £15 could buy a lot of  help, if needed!

The sale appears to be directly from Creworks, not Amazon. I’d expect the warranty and post-sales to be directly with them.

                Hi chaps-

Guilty as charged, I just saw the price reduction (and even that is in question) and thought it was a deal. The likes of Amadeal are a no-brainer for a few quid more as Clive mentioned.

I do believe you are still covered by Amazon’s return policy, however for anything short of a return, the well regarded vendors are going to be much better to deal with.

While there may be a respectable warranty, do check how long you’ve got to return things via Amazon.  I got caught out with a Stanley FatMax product.  Fortunately, Stanley honoured the warranty.

The problem I’ve experienced with Amazon returns is that something that could have been resolved easily by supplying a part results in having to send the item back in is original packing. Last year I had a real problem over this and Amazon said it was not a parts supplier. The supplying company were completely unhelpful, saying there was a 6 month lead time from China for a simple part. Amazon though, accepted there was a problem and would accept the return but insisted on the original packaging, which had been discarded as it was not feasible to store  (it was for a fridge freezer).

If the product is something light and simple to return, that’s not too bad. A lathe or other piece of machinery may be another matter.

Dayum, I guess the game’s up.. I must be working for Amadeal and Warco too since I’ve posted on new models from both of them in the last week..
