Corks

Corks have engineering uses other than as handles for small files, or stopping swarf falling into the gears on small lathes.

Corks were the friction material, on the centre plate of oil filled clutches, and maybe still are.

But, keep, as they might well “Come in handy one day”, and have a second useful life.

I had to throw away hundreds if malt whiskey bottle corks the other day.

Apart from using a few as bungs for morse tapers, never found a use for them!

 

It had been fun getting them…..
