If you removed the blades from the fan would that give more generating capacity as the steam engine is then only driving the generator not the fan as well, or is the fan needed to create a stabilising load on the steam engine?

Hi Perko, there's no need for the blades (except for the slighest of breezes which is welcome in an Aussie summer ), though it keeps it as recognisable as a PC fan.
