The spindle nose on my lathe is of the flanged type that require mucking about whith a small spanner in a tight place with lots of knuckle-skinning metal around. Even with the bolts off the chuck still has to tapped off the short taper in the center of the flange.
Has anyone any ideas about converting it to a D1-4 camlock. It’s a good quallity lathe (wabeco D6000E) and very rigid for it’s size so I think I could get away with an adaptor adding extra spindle length/weight. Has anyone ever made such an adaptor or have any ideas on the subject.
      Thanks.

You do realise of coarse that the Camloc has a small central taper fitting as well, it does not stick that much as it is relatively short. Do you have enough flange diameter to match up with the overall Camloc size?  I am not aware of the D6000E detailing.
