compressor query

Has anyone used a bambi bb24v compressor to run stationary engine,s like helping dads current and earlier models

Or is it better to go for a cheaper noisy type and spend the savings on sound proofing

This is my first post and would appreciate any advice

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum. I haven't used a Bambi compressor to run my small oscillating engine, I have used another compressor often used for small air brush spray guns. The Bambi should be able to run your engine.

John: as you have used one and have real, rather than theoretical, knowledge, how big an engine could one of the Bambi compressors operate?

If I have it correct they supply 30 litres per minute. What does that correspond to in, say, running Stuart engines?

As John says make sure it is not running continuously. I have a bambi and fried the controller so I know. Check the compressor and if it starts getting really hot STOP.

Another thing you will probably notice if your engine is new, as it runs for an hour or two, it will free up/get run in, and use less and less air to maintain the same rpm, an engine such as the Stuart Turner S9 is designed to run at 400rpm, and if the govenor is working properly, it will hold that speed fairly closely, on the engine I rebuilt, on a pressure range from 20psi to 60psi.

The S9 got nicked, and we have not found it yet B***ER.
