      Might as well add my two penneth.

      Go for the biggest ER size you can get away with. There’s nothing more frustrating than needing to hold 25mm and your collets only go up to 24mm!

      I have the ER40 version and its not that physically big.

      Another thing to note is that ER32 is by far the most common, especially in industry, so good collets are easy to find.

      I also have a spin indexer, it never gets used. Setup is a faff.

        I have made some smaller ones just recently and found that its not as easy as it looks, even clocking the blanks to zero then threading and boring they still are not exact, so had to resort to a little jig that supported a collet mounted drill blank and trued them up on the surface grinder. A bit of a faff which makes the comm versions quite cheap!
