Cold blue for Aluminium?

Hi All,

is there such a material similar to the cold blue liquid for steel but suitable for aluminium alloys?

I haven't tried it, but this is supposed to work on Aluminium.

Noel, I was looking for a brush on solution not anodising, but thanks for the input.

Thor, had a look at the products but they are expensive and multi step; more for industrial use I guess.

It was just a thought wondering if there was something simple but I think not. Will just stick with an as finished wax application which will be fine I am sure.

Metalblak sold by Delway technical services do an aluminium blacking kit, will cost about 30 quid.

Martin,

I machine aluminium for the insides of radio controlled boats and the aly needs to be well protected.

I paint the components. First, any assembly is done with JB Weld epoxy then I rub down the whole component with 240 grit paper. Spray with an etching primer (Source from Halfords – dry in 20 mins) then finish spray (again rattle can from Halfords).

Sand blasting then waxing gives a nice finish to aluminium.
