In the immortal words of Samuel Johnson:

“ … like a dog’s walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.”

        Interesting.
Not much of drinks can actually used. It’s just the outer air duct. It’s running very rich and has no nozzle so not producing much thrust if any. More of a burner than a jet.
Choice of fuel is interesting. Isobutane in the form of R600a. It’s got a relatively low flame temperature.

I’m amazed that he hasn’t cut his fingers holding tinplate like that while drilling!

Fools rush in…. Frequently get away with it until one day it goes pear shaped.

How about a coal fired jet engine. I kid you not!

                Solid fuels can be abrasive.

At one time, some marine engines were fueled by coal dust being blasted into the cylinder, but the ash caused wear.

Later attempts to use coal slurry as a fuel for locomotive engines, failed because the abrasive wear to injection systems.

And having ash impact a turbine rotating at high speed, suggests a short life.

And that reminds me of the problems caused to aircraft by the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

The combustion system could be made very efficient, but the products of combustion would need to be kept away from the mire “delicate”v parts of the engine, (heat exchanger?)
