Also in my old work telephone area before I retired, we used to have auto censoring software problems with Penistone.
As a slight aside, my two most popular photos on Flickr, of the 12,500 I have posted (with well over a million views overall) are both of Blue Tits; they aren't even particularly good images, so I guess many of the viewers were disappointed.
By and large, Engineers, of whatever scale are far to erudite, well educated and down to earth to be Woke! Anyone who served any sort of engineering apprenticeship will have heard words that woulkd make a docker blush! It is high time we stopped giving any credence or attention to those who rush around blubbing profusely when they are "offended by something" As the very well educated and erudite Mr Steohen Fry said, " You are offended? So F***ing what?"
SPOT ON Bazle! Apart from the misquote Orwell/Huxley thing. These people are cowning the public into silence, and the what they desire, as always, is power!
I can't really imagine anyone here being very offended by the occasional use of common swear words that we hear everyday anyway – me included. (Although, that the forum is open to all age groups is a factor).
That said, I think quantity is more important. If these hallowed halls become rife with "language" wherever you look, I for one would be off. I suspect that the only way to limit the quantity is to partially (as now) or completely ban such language.
[ Oh gosh darn ! – had to go in and edit (multiple times). Why can't I do it right the first time? ]
A scroll through the Freeview channel listings shows most programs as having "strong" or "offensive" language, as well as violence, sexual content, nudity and drug use. A sign of the times I suppose.

It's all very strange. Phil and others are convinced they're not allowed to speak openly while Anthony's survey suggests TV is a linguistic cess pit! (He's not wrong.)
I'm not offended by 'Industrial Language' or filthy comedians, but I suppose I'm 'woke' in the sense I go out of my way not to offend others. Within limits I adapt to suit who I'm with as a mark of respect. Doesn't mean I won't call out a crass bad-mannered ignorant bigot if one gobs off in my ear 'ole!
Anyone else noticed that loud vulgar types are often very sensitive souls who can't bear any form of correction. Seems they like to hand it out but can't take the heat themselves!
What's acceptable in polite society changes continually: I suspect Phil and Anthony are both noticing things have moved on, and don't like it. Me too but it's the way of the world. Julius Caesar's table manners wouldn't go down well today, and mine would have horrified Queen Victoria. She would have spotted instantly that I'm definitely non-U.
The whole woke/offended thing has got progressively worse over the last decade imo.People literally go out of their way to find stuff that offends them nowadays. For the main part media outlets seem to embrace this way of life and actively encourage it in some ways.I really dont like the world we have become tbh, programmes that are repeated on certain channels from years ago even have warnings saying "this show reflects attitudes and humour etc of its time that people may be offended by" This was daytime tv! Im of the age where as young lads in our first jobs we saw the last of the "fun" stuff where the HSE now would be closing the place down, and where there would be several gross misconduct dismissals for "bullying" in the workplace. Now,you cant say or do anything, weve become soulless, personalityless robotic yesmen. There, that feels better now…….haha Or as is more commonly signed off now-RaNt OvEr!!11!!

Good news Andy, several forum members are keen to spend the weekend giving you an old fashioned 1950's workplace bullying! Everything from compressed air up the backside to battery acid in your tea and a really fun joke with a Megger in the bogs. We're all looking forward to it – we don't often get volunteers!
A trip to our stores as an apprentice was likely to result in being enveloped in a cloud of French chalk or a soaking, there would be trouble these days. The world seems to have had a very successful sense of humour bypass.

haha I’m half a century away from that time,my first days in the workplace was early 2000s,not quite the extremities you describe, but loads of oil in air tools, long stands for things at the stores, and even people being took up on overhead cranes was regular. As was setting things on fire and watching people panic,I seem to remember a lot of “character building” shall we say aswell. As said things that would lose people their career now.Nothing personal just cheap laughs.

Is it a sense of humour bypass? I've never found humiliating someone very witty. Obviously I don't have a sense of humour.
Pratical jokes on apprentices seemed to be more commonplace when our workplace was a government agency, as soon as we were made a company and profit became important wasting time was taken a bit more seriously by managers.
