The switch on the speed control of my CL300 failed over Christmas.Unable to get a quick replacement, I made a replacement with a suitable potentiometer and a cam operated microswitch. See picture.

The device in the previous post is too big to fit in the existing control box, without moving the fuse holder. However, I found swarf in the original box when I opened it and decided to construct a new one, which did not have the lead screw running through it. This has now been made. The spindle speed display has been fixed to it and the mains supply for this connected inside the box. As I had just completed making a coolant pump system (inspired by Michael Cox) I also fitted a 13 amp socket to take the plug-in PSU for it. Also fitted a larger chip guard at the back of the machine and had to fit a guard for the chuck (cut from a plastic electric equipment box) to avoid showers of coolant.

          Hi.

Well, I'd just like to thank the contributors to this topic,

especially John Swift. Following his advice on the board repairs,

I now have a working lathe.
