Hiya Nobby, still learning about it and I honestly can’t tell you a thing because it’s still on manual sweaty bloke power.
I’m looking to power it up over the coming weeks, so I can focus on acquiring the skills of tooling and angles, letting the machine do the work.
I recommend “The Shaping machine” as your first stop and “shaper work” which is a huge WW2 manual from the USA war production guys.
Shapers seem to be the secret machine tool no-one ever talks about, they make milling a pleasure and an art, just as lathes make turning a pleasure and an art.
Those pictures are literally my first ever 15 minutes with a shaper, and only the bottom surface at one end was shaped.
