Hello,I have a drill chuck made by ,I think,USA company called Fish.

the only reference on the body is,,FISH 1-13.

its quite well made and larger than your Jacobs type, but I am unable to find a key that fits,,anyone out there with one ?

      cheers.

          Never heard of them before

Sorry, I can’t help; except to say that at least one other example seems to exist: **LINK**

… and the key looks fairly typical.

What exactly is the problem ? … Pin size or the gear

2581cfcf-d18c-4d34-91e0-1abb1a8d536b.jpegPin size is 5/16”. The nearest key I have is a Jacobs 5/16” @20.5mm.diameter. But it looks like I need something like 22mm.

How about finding a chuck key with the required gear size and then turn the spigot down to the required size to fit the chuck. It doesn't have to be particularly accurate so could be done quickly on a lathe or even with a bit of careful filing in a vice.

There is a list of Jacobs keys and their dimensions at:

                https://www.newmantools.com/jacobs/keys.htm

If the key is does not engage the teeth on the chuck sleeve, you can press the sleeve forward slightly to close up the gear mesh. Conversely, if you have a key where the mesh is too tight, you press the sleeve backwards a little.

Is this the Austrian (?) firm that makes premium wood drill bits?

I have done just what Martin W suggests to modify a chuck key. Rightly or wrongly, I made the spigot a snug fit in the hole in the chuck body (tighter than the "genuine article" sometimes appears to be! )

EGA..I think the Austrian company might be Fiche.not related.

Martin W,,I think you could be right, but how do I require the right gear size?

on the other hand..do you think I could press the chuck collar down a bit to engage more with the key I have ?

Thanks again for all the replies.
