There was an interview/story/pictures with Cherry in the "Setting up a Workshop" special issue in Aug 08 (I think).

Some pictures of her workshop(s), but no working methods other than to say she uses Cellulose paint for finishing and applies 5 coats of undercoat and the same number of finishing coats.

      Machinery mentioned:

Lathes Myford Super 7 Connoisseur, Pittler(1913) with overhead drive frame, fitted for milling and dividing, IME model 100, Cowells 90.

Milling Centec 2A, Myford VMC with inverter drive, Wabeco F1210E

Drilling Startrite Mercury, Meddings, Toyo, Sensitive drilling machine

Phil   –    please excuse the drool!

I got the opportunity to meet Cherry yesterday. She's making good progress on a model of an extraordinary Ice Engine. The fascinating thing is how she goes about 'filling the gaps' in the slender evidence that remains for her subjects.

The publishers tell me that the first reprint has sold through already. Second reprint is due any day.

Thanks to all who have bought the book. Sales are still trundling along, with a bit of a boost now for Christmas.

Thought this may be of interest. I just found a page on the Model Engineering Website (modeleengineeringwebsite.com) that has a 13 minute video of Cherrys models. There are some frames of the engine depicted on the book cover.
