Hi all, ive just acquired a champion 16VS Mill second hand. When I picked the machine up it was running and all seemed well. After getting it to my workshop I noticed the motor was detached from the machine. There seems no obvious way to hard mount the motor to the Mill. Could anyone give any insight to where I may be going wrong here? I've looked on the online manual and there is no instruction on fitting or removing the motor???

Thank you for any help in advance.

If in doubt Google "Chester 16Vs Milling Machine Handbook"

Or download manual from Chester's website where you will see there are four screws that hold the motor to the flat plate

You won't get instruction in how to fit and remove the motor but by looking at the exploaded views it should be reasonably obvious that the top cover is removed, then the six cap head screws holding the metal plate undone so that you can get at what should be the four screws that come up from below into the motor end plate

Given that the 4 screws that go into the motor front plate look to be captive they should still be visible in their respective holes.

The question we all have is how did they come undone on their own or are the threads in the motor front plate stripped?

If the seller said 'I've fitted a new belt' it may be he couldn't fit the drive belt so he left the motor bolts out or a modification has been done badly.
