      NDIY:

I made several batches of RBs. The 1st batch had the Centec logo machined into the side and hi-lighted with black paint, as shown in the first 3 photos. The subsequent batches had the brass labels shown in the last photo, but I fitted them only on the 1st of them. For the remainder, I supplied the badge and hammer-nails with instructions on how to fit them, but left the actual fitting to the buyer. You possibly have one of those. I fitted stainless dome nuts and thick machined washers to all my blocks, so if yours has them then it could be one of mine.

The 457mm length was as I ordered, but I had to clean them up and possibly lost a mm.

        Gary,

I know – hence the smiley! I think there was a centec badge in the boxes of bits that I got with my machine. No complaints from me on the quality. It makes a very good machine even more useful. I’m delighted with it.

          Good Morning All,

resurrecting an older thread here with a long shot question – has anyone made an adapter riser block to enable a MKIII vertical head to be mounted onto an Automil MKII?

(I'm after plans if anyone has anything, long shot I know but if not then I'll have to make it from scratch)

          Cheers

          Jason

Beware of tolerances, I have both a 2 and a 2A, a dovetail made a good fit for the 2A is too big for the 2. The Centec made horizontal arm and Mk2 vertical fit both. Centec made an adapter for the C/Automill a very rare item.

              Thanks Dave.

I had heard of tolerances varying slightly. I had a 2b Universal which I've now sold but retained the vertical head.

I had heard tell of the Centec made adapter but I suspect I have next to zero chance of finding one and I'm not bothering to look much – did a quick search around on various places but nothing hence my intention to make one. Apart from the retaining blocks it looks to be a fairly straight-forward operation. The Automil is a far beefier machine than the 2b but seems to be rather rare nowadays. I've never seen another.

When you cut the slot for the inside dovetails drill through and counter bore top and bottom for some hold down bolts.

There have been a couple of machines on Ebay.

If anyone is interested in making a short riser, there are some perfect billets on sale on Ebay right now: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145611920138

I just bought one as they are 75mm wide, and 208mm deep (perfect size) and are already squared off nicely, with holes pre-drilled in the sides to hold down on the table, so that saves me a lot of work. Almost made for the job, and cheaper! There are 7 more units left.

                  PM me for seller’s email.
