      I was wondering if there is any difference between Brunell and blackgates offering of the Durham & North Yorkshire. form what i can see is they are both based on the same drawings.

            Help. read article about home built furnace in either , work shop or model Eng’ can anybody point me to the month it was in. Need sizes to melt 3kg brass. best regards to all.

              Hi Fred,
              MEW 181 had an article on Aluminium casting, there is a proliferation of information on the internet, PM me and I’ll forward what info I have put together so far, I am also in the process of building a home foundry.

                  If you are interested in home foundry work there is a huge amount of information and advice on the web. Much more than in the magazine, which was interesting. A good place to start is here he has lots of links. Supplies can often be obtained form a local jobbing foundry (they are usually very interested in our work) or here (excellent service). You cold do no better than to look up Myfordboy’s casting videos on YouTube
                   
                  It is well worth researching as there is a great deal of information for you to get clued up on what is required. I am about to experiment with a furnace based on an empty discarded (French domestic) propane bottle and home made refractory. Wish me luck

                    I have watched the videos cool stuff ,how do you make the black looking sand mix? Must be cheap im retired now…….

                      I think he uses a water bonded green sand from a Foundry suppliers
