Adrian I am very pleased to see your article re building a long clock case in the latest Model Engineer Could I ask you for a materials list of the timber used

As a further comment I realise that the case has been dimentioned using CAD

        but isn't 5.6875" and 0.5625" a little bit ambitious in wood ?

Not for JS.wink See the drill grinding jig thread for his experience in a piano making factory.

            .

Not if you have a ruler calibrated in sixteenths

Get within 1/4" and in weather like the past week it will spend some time exactly on size

It might be a mental thing but I can work with 0.0625 in metal I can probably work with 1/16th in wood but to my mind 0.0625 is exact whereas 1/16 is about right

                  Roy ( I'm bringing tolerances up again aren't I ? )

                    roy,

i hope you never make a set of dovetail joints with 1/16" tolerance! wont be much of a decent joint!

                    cheers,

                    julian
