How far of do I need to back of the camlock screws as I have just got a new machine and unsure how to take the chuck off, it may be stuck not sure many thanks, Brian lightfoot

Ps the handbook is no good at all.

On my old Bantam with D1-3 back off 180 degrees, the collar is marked with an engraved line at open and closed positions.

When you out it back on, note that the chuck and base are uausally marked with the single straight line, to line up the two separate parts.

There should be three markings on the spindle nose for each fastening " |" at 12 O' Clock and "V" at 3 and 6 O'Clock. The line on the locking clamp should be between the two "V" for locked. Turn anti clockwise to the "|" to release.That's how Colchester did it on the chipmaster, others may vary the markings, but the principle will be the same.

Thanks for the help the chuck is now off all it needed was a tap with a soft mallet, but as not used this method of holding a chuck on I was a bit unsure better safe than sorry,
