Can anyone else remember an article either in ME or MEW about modifying a cheap calculator to count up and down the revolutions of a handwheel by connecting it to a reed switch?
I've been through all the back copies and I can't find it but I know I've read it somewhere!
I'v got one some where that I used as a counter for coil winding, just a couple of wires, one attached to the winder, the other so it touches once per rev. Can't remember how I wired it up, and I think you have to push 1 then +. Ian S C
To use a calculator to count you can connect a reed swich across the '=' button. Press +1 and then each time the reed switch operates the calculator will count up by one. If you then enter -1 it will count down.
