          If you read the instructions for the orginal Raychem / Tyco sleeves you will find that twisting conductors together is only recommended for wires under 1mm2 (1.1mm dia, 18AWG, 19SWG).

          One of the issues is that if strands are twisted the ends can be angled up and pierce the insulation.

          On aircraft it unusual to use these to splice wires. They are normally used to terminate the screens of screened cables.

              That’s because they have a different word for it which they pronounce correctly.

                This American supplier (who I have visited) spell it solder but pronounce it soder.
