      K.N.Harris (and others) credit C.M.Keiller with the development of a number of the formulae used to design Live Steam locomotives – eg smoke tube length L divided by bore squared to be 60 to 80. However I have not been able to, so far, find where the articles were published.

      Harris mentions a ME article June 15 1938 (actually that appeared in 1939 not 1938) but that deals only with specific work on one locomotive and is not a generalised article.

      Can anybody give me some clues as where/when Mr Keiller's works were published?

          Michael, have you tried to google C.M.Keiller steam engine calculations, you’ll find a good bit there, mainly related to model engineering. Ian S C
