I was given some brake drums/discs this week by my garage. Any thoughts on them ? I´m thinking of cutting the rear smoke box ring for my P8 out of one of them.

They tend to be good quality high density cast iron

Not sure what section the ring will end up at but if you are riviting it on then there may be a risk of fracture, not so bad if using unslotted screws and nuts.

They will also make useful work support stands for the milling table.

I used one for a swivel base for a bench grinder when I made my tool & cutter grinder.
