Just signed up, principally to find a new home for 400+ Model Engineer magazines from 1951-1988; including 352 from 1950s.

Would be happy to swap them for Subbuteo teams from 1970s.

          Hello Chris,

          Welcome to the Forum.

Sadly I can't help you with either the magazines, I am trying to slim the storage and I never got into Subuteo

There will be others interested I feel sure.

          Regards Brian

            Hi Chris,

"He always beat me at Subbuteo, because he flicked to kick, and I didn't know."

Random trivia – subbuteo literally means 'nearly a buzzard' but is the Latin name for the hobby (bird of prey), hence the name of the game.

Correct, the inventor of Subbuteo, Peter Adolf, wanted to call the game The Hobby, but wasn't allowed to, as it was too general. As a keen bird egg collector, he called it after the Hobby, bird of prey, whose Latin name is falco subbuteo. All started in 1947, I think.

Have had a quick look at the back copies of the ME I have for sale, most from 1950s.

Many have Christmas specials and reports on various Exhibitions including Souvenir Guide – Wembley 88.

Also have copy of the Diamond Jubilee edition- Vol 118 No:2971 from 1.5.58.

Anyone interested in any or all 400 of these magazines from 1951 – 1988?

(Have also found one magazine from April 1958 of "Model Maker".)

Have found another 224 magazines from 1970 – 1983 on top of the +/- 400 I already have from 1951. Vast majority are from the 1950s.

                  Looking for a good home.
