I hope that someone may be able help.

When I purchased the Metric conversion gears for my Boxford lathe, the set came with a metal plate showing the setup of the gear train for specific Metric thread pitches.

Having recently moved to Portugal, along with the workshop of course, the plate seems to have hidden itself somewhere. Does anyone have one that they could scan or photograph for me.

      Regards Barry

            boxford metric gears.jpgBarry,

There is a pic in my photos titled Boxford metric gears which may help. Shown above. Charts for gearbox (model A) and non-gearbox (B, C etc).

Many thanks John and Phil for your help, wont have to do it the hard way and get the calulator out. Of course now I have the details my own plate will mysteriously re-appear.

              Regards

              Barry

Even with a calculator, working out gear trains makes my brain (what's left of it) hurt.

Let a computer do it. There's a program here **LINK** or I have a program embedded in an EXCEL spreadsheet that does the same job.

                  cheers,

Thanks Rod. Don't really have a problem these days, as both my Imperial lathes have gearboxes and I don't need to cut Metric threads.

But the old ML7 was a different kettle of changewheels!

There is a Boxford group on groups.io that is still active.
