Hi all, I am a new to this site and this is my first post. Can anyone please tell me what size and type of thread is used for the cross slide screw. My lathe came to me with this part missing and I would like a friend of mine to make me a new one

      Many thanks

      Terry

IIRC it is a 10 tpi Acme form Left Hand thread. But I can't remember the diameter!

Bear in mind that the model C doesn't have a power cross feed so screws from, say, a model A such as mine is will be a different "shape" to accommodate this.

Hopefully someone with a 'C' will come along when this thread gets back to the top of the list

            It is I think 7/16"

            Imperial of course

A chap who makes feed nuts and sells them on ebay is steveboy.butler@googlemail.com -may be useful

              Terry,

Does it have the lead screw nut? If making both, the thread form and tpi can be anything you want. May be better to stay with the same ring on the machine and remain with the same system (metric or imperial).

Thanks for the replies fellas. It has been confirmed as a 7/16"x10 TPI left hand acme thread and its now up to my mate to have a go at making one for me.

                Regards Terry

It may be worth checking with Boxford to see if a new one is available
