Well, the boredom and frustration are well set in now. Not been able to go in the shed for 5 weeks and could be 5 more MONTHS untill I can return! I can’t even manage sitting at a table yet. I’ve had a fairly complex op on my knee,( fused knee, external fixator and muscle/skin grafts). Thankfully I only had 2 1/2 weeks in hospital. Fortunately Mrs jimmy is an excellent nurse! Moan over!

Time to get ahold of a pile of back issues of MEW and start working your way through them. Then on through the Workshop Practice series of books. By the time you get back in the shed you will have a headful of new skills and a lifetime supply of projects to do.

How are your technical drawing skills Jimmy? Doodling ideas or even getting a rule out and laying down some straight guide lines lines is something I find quite therapeutic and can be done just 'sitting about' 😀 Hope you don't get too stir crazy😳 Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Well as you seem to be able to work a computer fire up your CAD or download one and do some virtual engineering.

Thank you for the kind words. I’ve started to draw up the fixator in Fusion360, but struggling to concentrate. I intend to 3D print it when it’s finished. I’ve already added a lot to my long list of “roundtoit” jobs!

Definitely use this time to expand your skill set, you may be laid up in the future again so we all need a backup system whoever we are

CAD is the obvious one, research CAD packages and get good at one

3D printing, read up on it. Read read read

Use the internet, the entire worlds library is at your fingertips

Maintaining concentration is definitely an issue, it's a weird recommendation but finding something non-ME to catch your eye and keep those braincells going can help. A modern handheld tablet can be both powerful and easy to use (surface-pro sized type screen) the bigger the better so its easy on the eye

I've been trying out e-coin mining recently, knew nowt 2 months ago, know a lot more now
