Have built LBSC's Bat O gauge loco, it has become apparent that it needs a blower as when engine comes to halt due to lack of steam I can only get steam back up to pressure with an external blower. He talks about fitting a blower in the construction articles but made no provision for fitting one on the meth's fired boiler.
The only place I can access a steam supply is by fitting a slim banjo union under the steam dome screw and then I planned running a pipe down the outside and then inside the outer shell behind a splasher and running a pipe to the smoke box to a control valve inside the smokebox and then to a blower nozzle. I would run a control rod back between the outer shell and boiler and through the back plate to a control knob.
Looking for a blower valve design in LBSC's Shop shed and road he say's "not to run a blower pipe between inner barrel and outer shell, ( which I planned to do) or the engine will keep "sneezing" all the time the blower is in operation" Does anyone know why this would happen?
