I have to say that the Lantern Chuck article is the very essence of what a small project for MEW should be.
It's reasonably quick and cheap to make.
It's something that, even if you were aware of, you probably will not have got around to making yet (like me).
It's a genuinely usefull piece of kit that once you have you keep using.
It's, as far as I am aware, not something you can buy.
I do make quite a lot of workshop tools and equipment but usually on the more elaborate side such as dividing heads etc. The smaller stuff tends to get overlooked especially when there are workarounds and lash ups which just delays making the proper piece of kit. I have been sometimes going to make a lantern chuck for about 20 years and the article has given me a sufficient nudge to get on with it.
