This is my 1939 restored Benson Lathe. I’ve not yet come across anyone else that has one.

does anyone else have one or have experience of using one ?ab73f7d0-3ec7-4c72-a0ea-677a857e2e98.jpeg

              Phil,

I’ve already sent tony some photos, it he’s not responded yet.

id just like to find someone else who has one other than the guy on YouTube who restored one a few years ago.

                A first-class machine-tool and restoration.

I take it the mechanism under the headstock is an automatic feed-clutch for repeated cuts?.

Powered cross-feed as well as long? The handle second from left on the apron suggests that to me.

                Vibration-dampers under its cabinet?

It appears to be finished in duck egg blue – so much more pleasing than the more usual battleship grey!

Yes powered cross slide and saddle. Left hand lever on saddle is for threading. Little flick up lever to its right is the feed lever.

The mechanism under the headstock is simply the feed control, 3 poisons and 3 speeds. Loads of extra gearing to allow a multitude of feeds.
