Hi all laugh am Richard Its my first time on model -engineer ,Very interesting subjects on here ,my job is Examning and mainting real life TGV's past 20 odd years ,Engineering is my passion ,my hobby is reading up and restoring old British machinery that i can get my hands on which is what has drawn me to this site while i was dsearching for info on an old Beaver Mill bought a long time ago before Circumstances and life got in the way and dumped it in storage .Its now 10 years on i decided to dig it out and see what/ if it can even spin.I have been on Lathe.co.uk website and bought a Beaver manual which according to the read up should be suitable for a few of the Beaver mills but it turned out to be for a Mk 2 ,not suited for mine in any way .If Anyone on here knows or have a manual or info about this Mk1 VBRP milling machine your help will be much appreciated its got VBRP stamped on the plate ,under the hood its V pulleys and belt ,a toothed belt ,Top main motor is 3ph.1.5 hp and small motor rh side of table,It needs a good de-grease,de- rust but i am determined to try, "we live and learn and then some "! This Machine bring back memories and a interesting story about how I got it.its a "right riveting read" when i get my one index typing finger warmed up .

Hi Richard, and welcome to the forum.

Can't help with Beaver beyond general principles myself (and you probably already know them already!), but I expect someone will be able to assist.

In the event it turns out you have the only Mk1 Beaver in the world, and there are no manuals, should still be possible to help if you post specific questions, ideally with lots of lovely photographs. How to do that explained on the end of this link.

          Dave

This is no doubt a mk2 , but fair bit will have carried over from the mk1. The photos may help with the Beaver style of retaining things even though the thread died before completion.

To the best of my knowledge, the manual you have is all that is available. There is no specific manual for the Mark I model. That said, a Mark II Beaver manual is more help to you than a Mark I Bridgeport manual.

                There is a thread here:

                https://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=123926k

where you might find information on your model.

If you type 'beaver site:model-engineer.co.uk' into Google, you will find other threads here on this subject.

Similarly, if you type 'beaver site:mig-welding.co.uk' into Google, you will find all the threads on that forum on the subject.
