                      Amazing man, The planes that he flew and survived them, what skill and daring!

                      I noticed from the credits that the programme was actually made in 2014, maybe it's available on the I player.

                          A bit late in the day but only just spotted this post.

                          Not long ago finished reading Eric's book 'Wings on my sleeve'.

                          Utterly amazing.What an incredible man and his life.

                          He describes the most heart stopping episodes in his life in such a matter of fact way.

                                After watching the programme,I googled for further info and found the list of planes that he flew,that was incredible,He should have been given a knighthood, far more deserving than some of the names that get on todays honours lists,

                                    Finest aviator in Britain's history, that should read world's history. Interviewing heartless sadistic lunatics like Himmler, Goring, Grese, etc, never troubled him much either. Amazing bloke.

                                      I agree the book is brilliant. smiley

                                      The documentary that was transmitted has also been on youtube for a while. But it's one of those that can be watched several times with awe, facination and enjoyment.

                                        He got a CBE, you need to be a highly successful businessman, a politician or a celebrity to get a knighthood
