I thought it would be a good idea to buy some back issues of ME myself having bought a subscription in January 2008.  However I didn’t want to buy one of the vast collections sometimes advertised in the private ads in the back of ME. Invariably the vendor was too far away and p & p would have cost a small fortune and storage would have been a problem for me too.  I resolved to buy all the back issues to the year 2000 and managed to get them all through Ebay.  Expect to pay on average about £8/volume + p & p, bear in mind that there are two volumes in ME’s year.
I’ve also bought at model engineering events, e.g. the Guildford Show,  I got the bargain of the century this year when I bought 19 bound volumes of Engineering in Miniature @ £1.84/volume.

If anyone is interested Leeds public library has volume 1 – 100 in the reference section.  The downside is that you cant take them out, but they do let you photocopy.  (And you dont have to be a member).

                  Hello Dave
I am looking for a series of ME from May 1992 which featured plans and build notes on ‘Simple Simon’ Oscillating engine. Is that year likely to be covered at Leeds Library ?

                    Hello,

I wonder if anyone has a spare copy of ME dated 20 May 1983?   I need sight of the article on Guildford MES dynamometer car, I think the page no is 601, and there is a fold-out drawing.

I have tried MyHobbyStore, but they don’t have that issue.

Photocopies will be acceptable, I will refund the costs.

Please telephone to discuss, 0114 2497435.

                    Regards
                    Geoff
