I have been enjoying the writing and modelling of Ashley Best, as described in his articles in Model Engineer.

I think his modelling is superb, and his construction ideas are worth noting.

He seems to be both a keen modeller and a superb artist; congratulations to Model Engineer for arm twisting the author to do such a superb write up, and Mr. Best for work well done.

Without wishing to appear critical in any way I like the way that Ashley doesn't aim for perfection (e.g. the lettering on his speed controls), but still gets a superb model at the end. Each step looks like something within the reach of the likes of us mortals, but the whole is exceptional.

I am glad you are enjoying Ashely's articles. I agree with what you both say and yes, he is a terrific artist and, I believe, taught art for some time.

The good news is we are hoping to have more from Ashley in the not too distant future.

I think I hear more positive comments about Ashley's writing than just about any other writer.
