Now and again there is a distinct lack of inclination for web pages to come back from the arceurotrade server. It used to be quite snappy 100% of the time, now it's like stirring treacle at minus 20 deg C A few minutes later and it's almost back to normal

            Hi Martin,

Not 100% sure why that is. I have been monitoring speeds after the changeover, and found them to be generally faster for more pages because of the way we have layed out the new structure.

However, there are a few reasons which could explain issues with speed:

            1. some new pages still have more products on them, so may take longer to load – but this is now effecting less number of pages then before.

            2. If the issue is for today, then we have a problem with the link between our server at our premises and the web server today, thanks to Virgin Media. We are looking into this. This is causing a few delays on certain pages today for sure.

            3. Some pages are still being updated on a daily basis by us. This could caused minor disruption.

            4. Some customers browsers need updating.

We will continue to develop and try to improve issues such as speed the best we can, ans can only apologise for the delays caused by us.

            Ketan at ARC.

                  Kean,

I thought you might like to know that sitting in a hotel room in Portsmouth relying on my tablets phone connection I find your website quite quick all over the website with random clicks onto various pages.

You may be better off using the "wish list" which will keep items you want in until you take them out, must edit mine as there are still things in it that I got for xmas after sending a link to the wish list to Santa.

                      Hi

Also had a quick trawl through several pages on the site and everything loaded quickly with no sign of slow loads. Noticed that the news said that BT have had a nationwide problem with their network today, I wonder if this has caused some users to experience slow loading.

                      Cheers

Not sure. It depends on various factors. Generally, once you log in, the best way for the site to remember what you want in the future is to add the items to the 'Wish List' by clicking the button next to the product of interest. This way, once you log out and come back to the site later and log-in again, the wish list 'tab' near the top of the page will have kept the items you had added to it earlier. The Wish list tab at the top only appears after you have logged in. Note: The wish list will store the items of interest for reference only, but will check the stock availability again when you add specific items from the wish list to the basket. If not in stock at time of purchase, it will not allow you to purchase it.

The Add to basket tab only works while you are on the site. Once you close your browsing session, it empties the basket. It is a little like when you go the supermarket of your choice. Fill up a basket, leave it without purchase, and walk out. A supermarket assistant comes along and puts the products back on the shelf for someone else to purchase.

                        Hope this explanation helps.

                            Thank you Martin P,

Martin W – Virgin Media were partly blaming BT for their adventures with our connection issues today. Turned out that VM had done a reset of our modem settings without anyone knowing at 8.20am. Back and forth all day today, and finally WE figured out the problem at 4pm, and reset the reset with our back-up file of their modem. Still waiting for their Super tech team to call back at 6pm to tell us what the problem is!….they are also going to do a firmware update over night for us. Lets see what joys that brings tomorrow morning…In theory it should all be okay, but they keep failing to take into account certain custom settings which are in place for us. Fingers crossed, holding breath.

If anyone here is with VM 50MB Broadband and are expecting a firmware update soon, my fingers are crossed for you too.teeth 2

                              Ketan !!

50M broadband – Bloomin Eck! The very best here is ( an occasional) 4Meg with upload speed about 350 k. It's better to catch a passing farmer and get him to take a letter into town!

( Still it is very peaceful and the views are good )

                              Norman

P.S. I think the web site is better – very crisp, well organised and easy to navigate. ( …….also very tempting!)

Lol…dont worry, you are not missing too much. This 50MB is still a marketing thing…depending on day, time, how the wind blows..When the service falls, we too have to go out into the field to find who flung dung…Usually 8 out of 10 times the fault results from a VM engineer working on one of the boxes near by.

Thanks for your comments about the site.

                                  Hi Norman

When we visit our granddaughter in the wilds of Staffordshire we are lucky to get 3MB and on a bad day less than 1MB. I find this very frustrating because at home I consistently get over 100MB with the cable connection but the scenery is not as nice and the traffic appalling, swings and roundabouts I suppose. Mind you they live down a muddy lane and don't have a connection to gas or sewage.

                                  Cheers

                                  Martin

                                    Hi Martin

I thought for a moment that your granddaughter might be a near neighbour of ours! We do have sewage but what IS this "gas" thing? Unheard of here unless you include that produced by cows!

Don't get too cross about appalling traffic either. Last month the electricity company needed to supply an underground feed to a new house. They CLOSED ! the road between us an the town for two weeks and the diversion was through the lanes. Part of this was a long and twisting (single track) lane up a steep hill. The only passing places were occasional field gateways which, after a couple of days, were quagmires! I approached this with great apprehension each time but, thankfully, didn't meet anything coming the other way!

Just to complete our joy they have now CLOSED the high street in the town ( it is a main A class route) for a month!! to renew the sewers.

Peaceful, relaxing ??, retirement in the country…………

                                    Cheers

Looking at the specification of **LINK** it says to click the image to see the details of the dimensions, using Windows10 clicking the image does nothing so I can't see which dimension is which.

Thanks for bringing to my attention. Fixed for now. However, we will be changing it again in the near future, becasue we discovered another limitation on functionality when re-testing.
