Going to do an Arc Euro Trade order in the near future.

Thinking about going for the no brand Telescopic Bore Gauges.

Assume this is a generic import product.

Does anyone have them? Are they any good? How do they compare to a named brand?

Same goes for thier micrometers? Can they be trusted?

Is this just another case of 'you get what you pay for'?

I don't know about your specific items, but I have been using Arc Euro successfully as my 'go to' for generic tools. The quality, consistency and pricing have been genuinely good – which is not something I have always found among other low-cost providers…

          Cheers, Colin

I've bought a number of things from Arc and been very happy with the service and the products.

            Usual disclaimers

I've never had any problem with Arc stuff. However having bought some telescopic bore gauges I still use my internal calipers as I find you have a better 'feel'. Adjust so that there is ever so little sideways movement, then compare with mic with a bright light behind so you can see it touch. For anything too small for calipers I use those expanding ball things, also bought from Arc.

I think what you have to ask yourself is what if they are no good. Buy from ebay like I do a lot & take a risk. Buy a branded product with a bank loan. Buy from someone like ARC & have a guarantee that if you are not satisfied you have a point of contact to get it rectified to your satisfaction. From reading posts on this forum it seems that Arc have a good reputation for customer relations.

                Steve.

look up the thread from last week about bore gauges and the very good test by Barrie comparing two name brands with imports and take note of the test conditions if you want accuracy then use them like that!

                    I'm another "happy" ARC customer.

Their reputation is what really counts, and their products represent

                    good, honest value for money.

But, as usual, don't expect a Rolls Royce for the price of a Ford.

ARC tools do what I ask of them in my particular environment.

                    ATB,

                    Daniel

Before I retired I ran a UKAS accredited test laboratory amongst other things we bought 2 digital callipers from Arc a 1000mm and 600mm at the price I thought it was worth a try. When we received them they went of for calibration at a UKAS accredited calibration laboratory both came back with calibration certificates confirming they met the required standard for that type of measuring equipment.

Ordered loads of stuff from ARC, and I have to say, it's been very good. Apart from the Myford style tilting milling slide. A but rough around the edges, and not square to the base (around 0.005" over 4&quot. Nothing that a bit of shimming won't cure.

                          Another happy ARC customer.

I buy from them not because they are the cheapest, or because they sell ultra quality items, but because I have confidence. Confidence that what I will receive will be good for the price and If i have a problem they will help.

ARC sells things that I would say are suitable for the majority of hobbyists, defiantly good enough for what I do.

I am a happy repeat customer of Arc. The only dud was a set of thread gauges. The smallest pitches were all poor.

So I bought another set elsewhere. Exactly the same. Conclusion, there was factory somewhere in China in need of new tooling. In practice, the gauges have always been good enough for what I actually need.
