Arbor press base plate dimensions

As it says. I aquired a 3 ton arbor press but the base plate is missing.

I just need the dimension so i can make one. I have looked online but they dont appear to be an after sale item where i have looked.

I suspect it is 180 mm dia and 20 mm thick can any one confirm that and also tell me the width and length of each of the slots.

Clive, the base plate can be any size you want to make it although the thickness should probably be a minimum of 20mm. Again the slots, presumably Tee slots, can be whatever you want to make them to suit your own tooling. Remember the press acts directly onto the bass plate so the need for huge amounts of torque when securing tools is not essential. There were obviously standard plates supplied with the original but whilst its dimensions are of interest they are somewhat academic in reality. HTH.

Thnaks guys. When I went to get the bar for the real job they had an offcut of 160 x 300 by 20 and they just gave it to me.

Excellent. Chop in half and turn up in the big lathe at work and it job done.

Neil it wasnt armour plate but it was remarkably flat for cold rolled.

Only had to take 0.3 mm per side to clean it up. And most of that was cos the first time i didn't get the feed right and had a rough finish in the centre third.

Any way it's done. pin in and mounted on the press and a nice chunk left over for something else?

Now I just need to strip out the MDS 48 and pull its bearings.
