Hi, when looking for the Youtbe video Ref 26 in the April ME&W mag part 5 of ‘Working on the Lathe: Drilling and Boring’, Youtube reports the video is not available now. Has anyone tried the link on ‘Micro Drilling  Stop Breaking Small Drills’.

      Have missunderstood something?

      Les

Seems to be OK, I got to it by searching Youtube for the title. The 27. at the end of the link should not be there, looks like someone doubled up with the ref numbers

Thanks Jason, if the Ref. 26 had it was by Joe Pie I could have found it myself.

By the way the code at end should be ‘PqU5wS0J4MU&t=18s’

          Cheers

Hi, I have one of these with a chuck that holds drills from 0.3 – 4mm, which I think is similar to what Joe was talking about at the end, which I have used in both my mills and lathes,

It’s sprung loaded, and you just hold the knurled ring and apply your desired pressure onto the drill, easy as pie. (no pun intended)

            Regards Nick.

Small drill?  now try it with a Number 80 drill or a 0.3mm.  I have used these when trying to make small steam injectors.

                Thanks Nick,

I’ve one of the same type. The next time I need to use it, I’m going to remove the grub screw and release the spring, so the chuck will revolve if the drill should become jammed as in the video.

Thanks Speedy, I note your words of caution.

                Cheers
