Microsoft car – works perfectly well but you wonder why the dashcam is watching the driver, not the road.

Linux car – gets you there, but only after you've spent six months to get the various parts working together. Adding a new air freshener means the steering wheel will cease to function until you take it apart and rebuild the entire vehicle.

Apple car – takes you in style and comfort to somewhere quite near where you wanted to be that no-one else can get to.

It will be VERY shiny and every time you touch something, it'll change shape. I wonder if they can develop a thermal fuse?

I thought Apple’s next purchase was to be an Irish Jaunting Car.

Microsoft car – a new version is released every 2 years that is even worse than the last and they discontinue support so you have to upgrade whether you like it or not !

Apple car – if it breaks down it has to go back to them to fix it as no one can afford the specialised tools to pull it apart and everytime there is an upgrade it takes a month for the various systems to talk to each other again !.

Samsung car – spontaneously combust when you plug it in to charge it !

Linux car – the one you buy just to be different to everyone else and because love tearing your hair out by the fist full trying to get it to work with anything useful !

No, a Linux car is one that you have to assemble the mechanical bits, usually from junk you have lying around, and then install free software that was written 10 years ago for a 3 cylinder 10valve Gronkle engine, not your 5 cylinder turbo Aardvark. After six months of swearing and conflicting 'advice' you get it to run for 15minutes. Then you give up and buy a Ford that just works.

Maybe Clive was just 30 years too early, he was with most things. Who would have thought back in 1980 that we would see grown men riding to work on foot powered scooters but we do.

The C5 is certainly not dead but seemingly only living on in 'cult land'. There are a couple for sale on eBay and there is an owners club you can join too.

What Clive really needed to sell the things was todays level of road congestion and high fuel prices couple with an altered state of what it means to be trendy (sorry cool).

If apple redid it and made it expensive enough it may just become the next big thing.

Sorry, Neil … Your "bodyshell" joke is lost on me.

It was the material for the white plastic bodyshell of the vehicle that we tested; not the weather protection.

As a vehicle … The C5 was 'open topped'

If it had two wheels at the front [like a Morgan] and modern batteries, it could have been fun.
