      Hello all,

I’m Wim and live in Belgium (near Ghent). After reading and finding some very useful information on this forum, I’ve decided to register myself to be able to take part in some discussions. I’ll do know that I’m not the most active person on a forum, but I’ll try to improve on this point ;-).

I’ve started some metalworks as a hobbyist (started with some welding projects) but after a while went into the finer stuff and bought myself an early Myford Super 7 MK1 (pre-1955) after following some evening courses. I do not have specific projects in mind at this moment but I’m sure they’ll come around.

Next to metal works, I’ll also perform some 3D printing stuff (using a simple Creality Ender) via Fusion.

      that’s it for now.

      grtz.

      Wim

Welcome to the party Wim, there are many on here with Myford Lathes so any help or advice you need should be no problem. 2 years ago I was working in Boom and Tisselt and have friends at Herentals.

Best wishes and have a good New Year. Noel.

            Welcome Wim,

You will find that having a lathe enables you to do all sorts of tasks that used to be difficult, if not impossible.

You have years of pleasure ahead of you.

            Enjoy!

            Happy New Year!

            Howard

It is on raiser blocks, so setting up without twist in the bed will be easier.

(If in doubt how to do this, read Ian Bradley’s “Myford 7 Series Manual” or his “The Amateur’s Workshop”)

You will probably find a set of Zeus Charts useful, also. I still use my dirty, dog eared copy from 1958.

If you want, I can suggest other books on basic operation of lathes. (To be seen on other ” Newbie” posts).

                Hope this helps

                Howard

Thanks Howard, luckily I’m familiar with Ian Bradley’s Myford 7 series manual 🙂 and I could use a friend’s machinist level to setup the bed. The raising blocks are home-made using a 20 mm bolt.

I’ll also search a bit further on your suggestions in other posting.
