Another Mystery Tool

Can anyone please help identify this item, it's been sitting in one of my toolboxes for years. I inherited it from my Dad and have never been sure what it's for. The ground down bit of the square piece had obviously seen a lot of use from the business end of a hammer.

Maybe a riveting jig.

It's an eyelet riveter for installing bootlace eyelets etc.

I have one of those from the days the family ran a garage, Its for riviting new linings on brake shoes (drum brakes).

The later models ware apparently branded as Sykes Pickavant, but see P 14 of this Pickavant catalogue, from 1952, before the two firms combined.

I could use that tool. I still use hollow end rivets for fixing the lining on motorcycle brake shoes and I didn't even know that a tool like that ever existed! I will message you.

Thank you for the replies. It was interesting looking through the catalogues linked to as I have several of the items in the sykes one, including the cylinder ridge reamer. I wonder if it is used much today?

Hi, an illustration in Buck & Hickman Ltd 1964 catalogue, tells basically how it is used.
