                  Hi David,

as a newcomer to model engineering in the last few years, I would like to express my thanks for the help and encouragement you have given to me as a writer for the magazines. Also for the speed with which my efforts got into print! Some publications take years.

Here's hoping that the future is good to you, and your ventures take off. I hope to see you at various forthcoming events.

                          My very best wishes David,

I've been amazed how you managed to keep the two magazines improving and at the same time sustain active participation in this forum. As a contributor I've always appreciated you 'contactability' by email and the forums. As a reader – I've appreciated that you have continued the Model Engineer tradition of editorial independence

I hope the future keeps you busy and that you now find some time to do a little bit more in the workshop!

Thansk for all you done for ME, MEW and the hobby.

The best of luck to Diane as well – she knows the model engineering inside out.

Hi Stub Mandrel and everyone else.

Thank you all for your good wishes.

I have enjoyed being editor of Model Engineer but I have too much to do to continue.

I have three books in the pipeline, and lots more plans for training courses and I may even design and sell a few engineering models and or tools.

Retirement is the last thing on my mind.

                            regards David

I look forward to reading your books when they come out. I am sure Diane will carry on the good work and I think we are all lucky to have these magazines which continue to look after our interests.

and as we say in Glasgow as a first footer "Lang may your lumb reek"
(May you prosper) If any English want a full explanation it is when after midnight the first footer will "chap" knock, enter and put a lump of coal on the fire and be given a wee dram (usually not so wee)

Regards to both of you and good luck and prosperity in your new ventures.

Well, I ve just lit up as it's rather driecht here today.

Many thanks for all the good wishes.

David will certainly be a hard act to follow, that's for sure.
I was offered this post unexpectedly (it is good to know that someone, somewhere, has faith in my abilities) and all I can do is try my best. Now I am to take over the editorship I will need the help, guidance and advice of readers and acquaintances on this forum. Please think of the Editorial office as having an ever open door; don't be afraid to pop your head round and shout at me. Model Engineer is your magazine – I am just taking care of it for a while.

I am not an engineer, as you know, but I have had a lifelong appreication of model engineering and model making in all its many and varied guises. I am please to say, therfore, that Stewart Hart, well known to many of you, has agreed to provide me with technical and proof reading assistance. I have always admired Stewart's work and delight in his eye for the unusual.

The well-known 'Woolfie', regular poster on here, is also going to be involved in moderating the forum and, in due course, updating the website content, hopefully improving and expanding it.

So – a bit of change to come, perhpas. Do drop me a line any time.

                                  Diane

Good Luck in you new position Diane.

                                                      Hey David

Well this is your last day in the "Pressure Cooker" then ( or if you read this tomorrow- then yesterday was your last day!)

I would like to add my thanks to you for all the effort you have put into establishing this site and making it the success that it is. I'm sure that the time and effort that you put in was well above anything that could have been expected of you when you took it on.

Hopefully now the pressure will have been eased a bit and you will get at least some time to " Smell the roses!"

Once more thanks for all your efforts and good luck in your future ventures.

                                                      Best Wishes

                                                      Norman
