      20210306_110203.jpgHello all,

I'm making a Stuart 10v from bar stock and need a flywheel, I've made a few in the past from fabrication to cutting out on the rotary table. Looking in the shed I found two cast iron weights and made one out of it, I thought that it would be difficult cutting through the skin but it cut with ease. I thought I would mention this as I think they look quite good for a flywheel with the lettering and they don't cost a lot to make.

Careful, you may incur the wrath of the OCIWA.

Who are OCIWA, looking on Google something to do with alcoholism.

Looks good Bob, just shows a bit of junk and a flywheel appears.

            Alfie.

                Ingenious!

You were lucky Avery used a decent foundry (perhaps their own). I once tried machining a piston out of a bit of architectural cast-iron, and inside, it looked as if attacked by woodworm with anaemia. It wasn't wasted though as I needed to make a weight for a small, lift-off cover, and it was fine for that.

My OCIWs are safe though. I need 'em as I bake the occasional cake.
