      I finally got this to work by apparently clicking "legacy display" to disable it (didn't work anyway), then unclicking legacy to make it ok (yes I know, weird)

      in file-system options-display-general

        insert a picture, scale it, then start drawing

          So you scale the pictures of the different views in their respective planes then start to draw the bits you want

          I had put my Drummond dwg on hold because it would take lots of work to run about and measure it all up

          if you can take your own pictures then you only need one measurement and the rest will fall into place because you've got all the aspects you need and you only need to scale your jpegs

          Only got this fixed an hour ago, has never worked for me previously, its probbly ok for most folk

            It's a useful tool particularly if you want to draw a cast part that has curves and angles, can be done with photos or scans of drawings where you usually only get the machined parts dimensioned.

                    Very nice work. I've done a few such builds over the years, it's a lot of work.

                    My first 3D work was the US M2 using the primitive 3D functions in Autocad back in the early 2000's.
