Well I'm on day 3 now, got the licence Tuesday, and just a final update for this thread
Day 1 – Total insanity, chewed tongue off- OMG I've wasted my money!
Day 2 – Figured out "The System" they use, at a beginner level anyway
Draw sketch of each part into a completely separate file and check orientation between parts at an early stage so that they build/slot together easily in the "Combine parts" program
Combine individual parts together in the "Combine parts" section of the program for constraint work
I cobbled this together in an hour after 3 days (well 2 and a bit), it's a full 3d simulation you can revolve with constraints applied
One conrod, two pins and a piston. (It also tells me the conrod interferes at the piston part because of the square edges)
So was it worth the money? Not on day one… but once you get into the swing of things you can do a heck of a lot with this and if you're an ideas guy you can build dynamic simulations. It's been very stable so far, I have a 15 year old Win7-64bit computer with 8GB of memory
Glad I got it now? That's a yes.
